What to buy, and why

When getting started in any new activity, appropriate equipment selection is usually challenge. Research is important. Knowing which features are important comes with time and experience. Emphasis on relevant features and selecting appropriate equipment the first time around will save you frustration and money in the long run.

Remember, you get what you pay for ----

Outstanding features incorporated into Fly Products Paramotors include the following:

bullet

Fly Products Paramotors have a very large 4.23 Gallon (16 Liter) fuel tank allowing for long flights. A smaller fuel tank than what Fly Products Paramotors offer will limit your area of operation. If you fly a paramotor with a fuel tank smaller than what Fly Products Paramotors offer, you will get tired of flying around the same area and end up going to the trouble of adding "auxiliary" fuel tanks and plumbing. Such retrofits can be a source of problems. The large fuel tank of a Fly Products Paramotor allows you to go somewhere, away from you normal launch area, and not worry about running out of fuel before you get back.

Fly Products Paramotors incorporate a fuel low-level warning light into the throttle assembly of the units with an electrical system... this is a feature that you will not find on other paramotors. It is useful, and a nice safety feature.

bullet

Fly Products Paramotors incorporate a variable position cruise control into the throttle assembly... this is a feature that is very useful when you wish to free up your hands to shoot pictures, etc., or during prolonged constant altitude flight. The throttle is routinely set up for use with the right hand, but with a minor modification the throttle can be set up to be used with the left hand for those that prefer a left hand throttle.

Fly Products Paramotors utilize an attractive, specially designed Swiss made, Husquevarna chromed tuned exhaust pipe to enhance performance and power. Fly Products Paramotors also utilize the exceptionally quiet maze silencers. Although all paramotor manufacturers have had  some problems with the exhaust systems on paramotors, especially those utilizing the Simonini engine, Fly Products has developed an exhaust system that has been trouble free for several years.

Most Fly Product Paramotors are equipped with an  intake silencer. The Fly Products Kompress paramotor is equipped with an internal air filter inside the intake silencer.

bullet

Fly Products Paramotors have a strong, well constructed, lightweight, easy to assemble/disassemble cage and frame assembly. The Fly Products Power Max, Fly Products Kompress, Fly Products Kompress Magic, Fly Products Race, and Fly Products Jet disassemble to such an extent that they are very easy to travel with or ship. Fly Products paramotors have double ring cages for extra strength yet the cages are dismountable and most Fly Products paramotors will disassemble for transport to a smaller package of components than most other brands of paramotors. Fly Products offers a hard sided traveling case with an integral handle and integral wheels for transport and shipping.

bullet

Fly Products Paramotors are designed to rest high on your back which makes carrying the weight of the paramotor significantly easier than paramotors that hang low on your back. An additional benefit of the paramotor riding high on your back is that it does not interfere with your ability to run as some other low hanging paramotors do.

bullet

Fly Products Paramotors offer interchangeability between various cage and propeller sizes (95 cm, 115 cm, or 130 cm) on the same basic motor frame (Power series, First Class series, Race series, Gold series, and Power Max series). This allows the same motor and frame to be used with different propeller sizes thus providing a range of top thrust with the same motor dependent upon the propeller and cage that are utilized.

bullet

Fly Products Paramotors have a trike,  the Fly Products Flash B Trike, that is specifically designed to utilize the Fly  Products Paramotors. For those that are interested in tandem trike flight as well as foot launched flight, this is a nice feature. Many other paramotors do not have a trike that is specifically engineered for use with them. Engineering is very important and jerry rigged trikes can be a source of  compromises to safety. The Fly  Products trike can also be flown solo.

bullet

Fly Products Paramotors have distance bars that are easily removable to enhance the compactness and portability of the paramotor. The distance bars are mounted in swivels that make getting into and out of the paramotor harness very easy. The distance bars are also equipped with a unique system to facilitate the use of weight shift and also compensation for torque effect and "P" effect.

Fly Products Paramotors are equipped with a very well constructed padded harness that is fitted with a large pouch beneath the seat and side pockets for carrying miscellaneous items. The harness is equipped with very high quality press gate carabineers. The Fly Products harness can be utilized for ground handling/kiting practice eliminating the need to purchase an additional ground handling harness. The harness comes in two sizes.

bullet

Fly Products Paramotors utilize high attach points, which allow the pilot to have greater authority over the risers while on the ground, which in turn makes ground handling of the paraglider far easier. High attach points result in more stability on the ground as well as in flight.

bullet

Many Fly Products Paramotors that are equipped with electrical starters and they also have a charging system to keep the battery charged in flight. This electrical system can be utilized to power other small load accessories such as strobe lights, position lights, a GPS, etc..

bullet

The Fly Products Kompress Magic, Fly Products Race, and Fly Products Jet paramotors incorporate a centrifugal clutch into the drive system allowing the motor to be running without the propeller turning.

bullet

Fly Products Paramotors have an upright (versus inverted) engine configuration to prevent the possibility of starting problems that are caused in inverted engines by accumulations of fuel that have drained into the cylinder between flights. Such an accumulations of fuel in inverted engines can result in flooding of the engine and/or fouling of the spark plug resulting in difficulty in starting.

bullet

Fly Products Paramotors are designed with attention to detail. Features such as nylon strap backups on the rubber "silent block" motor mounts are common with Fly Products paramotors... attention to detail that will not be found on other paramotor brands.

bullet

Fly Products Paramotors have a bottom mounted fuel tank configuration that reduces the chances of fuel leaking onto hot engine components, onto electrical components, onto the harness or onto the pilot.

bullet

Most Fly Products Paramotors have an extremely high quality Bing float and slide type carburetor versus the less expensive and the often more troublesome diaphragm type carburetors (as are used on chainsaws and weed eaters) that are found on other paramotors. The Bing carburetor is extremely efficient and provides for very long flights without having to takeoff with a heavy fuel load. The Bing carburetor also provides a smooth operation throughout the entire range of power, from idle to full power.

bullet

Fly Products Paramotors come with comprehensive owner's manuals.

bullet

Fly Products Paramotors are backed by outstanding customer support and a six month warrantee. Fly Products is one of the oldest manufacturers of paramotors. Their success is attributable to innovation and excellent customer support. You can count on Fly Products to continue to provide long term support of their products.
